Pure Imagination

by Marian Call

/

about

A little balm for the worst of the wintertime. Recorded in February 2016, a raw little jazz session with friends all in one room. This track is slightly imperfect in the best ways, since we were improvising together in real time.

Special thanks to the studio engineering expertise of Lucy and Bennett at Both Ears Sound in Anchorage, AK; they got us all into the same space without compromising on sound.

lyrics

Come with me
and you'll be
in a world of pure imagination
Take a look
and you'll see
into your imagination
We'll begin
with a spin
traveling in the world of my creation
What you'll see
will defy
explanation
If you want to view paradise,
simply look around and view it
Anything you want to, do it
Want to change the world?
There's nothing to it
There is no
life I know
to compare with pure imagination
Living there
you'll be free
if you truly wish to be

about

Marian Call Alaska

Marian Call has things to say. She sounds a little like Ingrid Michaelson meets They Might Be Giants & Regina Spektor for bourbon & laughs, which sounds improbable, but give it a try. She hails from Alaska and tours North America and Europe, and she lives on Twitter. Her songs are quirky, sharp, surprising confections in every genre full of rich dark carmelized sugar, savor, & spice. ... more
